Fairytales Gone Bad: Zombie-rella / Blood-red Hood

This event is part of:

Produced and presented by Half Moon and Joseph Coelho

Hosted by The Cockpit

Join performance poet Joseph Coelho, National Poetry Day Ambassador, as he unravels familiar fairytales to create fresh contemporary classics in an enchanting performance for young and old alike.

A mysterious vaudeville storyteller with a magical top-hat and coat unwinds the true stories behind the happily ever afters, which are maybe not as charming as you remember!

Discover the true tale of Cinderella, where she dies and becomes a zombie and falls in love with a vampire prince. And of course, there’s the true tale of Little Red Riding Hood, the wolf-hunter who never leaves her home without her shield, axe and blood-red stained cloak.

After the show there will be a chance to meet Joseph and purchase signed copies of his books, as well as talk about his work.

Joseph’s debut poetry collection, Werewolf Club Rules, won the prestigious CLPE Children’s Poetry Award (CLiPPA) in 2015. His second poetry collection, Overheard in a Tower Block, and debut picture book, Luna Loves Library Day, were published in 2017.

“Stripping down familiar fairytales to their gruesome guts.”
