Produced and presented by The Asian Music Circuit
Hosted by The Cockpit
Join us for a recital by legendary vocalists from the holy city of Varanasi who have established themselves as the finest performers of the North Indian style of khyal but also sing exquisite bhajan, thumri and tappa. They have been working with the AMC since 1989 and with the AMC have performed at all the major venues of the UK including the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms: they collaborated with the composer Michael Nyman on an AMC commissioned new work; broadcast for the BBC on numerous occasions since 1989. They are currently on a global tour of their music called BHAIRAV SE BHAIRAVI TAK and their UK concerts form part of that but in the context of the AMC project they will be performing ragas associated with deities as well as nature.
Pts Rajan and Sajan Misra sing rags for the afternoon, but also for their association with deities. Pts Rajan and Sajan Misra accompanied on tabla by Sanju Sahai.
The Asian Music Circuit are delighted to present this recital as part of a new project titled MUSIC OF THE THREE WORLDS which includes a number of other concerts, an exhibition and symposium in London. Please see our website for further details.
